Does Your Marketing Strategy Need a Mastermind?

My head is still spinning from the LIVE, IN PERSON two-day event I attended recently in Destin, Florida.

I joined approximately 50 women from across the country who are members of the Next Level Mastermind with online business coach Jennifer Allwood.

Although this is not my first mastermind group to join, it is the largest and first time I’ve met other members in person instead of online…I did not know quite what to expect.

Suffice it to say, the experience far surpassed my expectations!

By definition, mastermind means a person who designs and guides a plan or undertaking (source: merriam-webster.com).

In this context, the mastermind is not only Jennifer Allwood, but also the collective expertise, experience and collaboration of everyone in the group to solve problems and achieve results.

Masterminds typically involve an application process and vary in topic, size, format, frequency, length and cost.

It’s important to find one that fits your need, schedule and budget.

Marketing lessons from my mastermind event:

1. Growth does not happen in your comfort zone.
Just like traveling to another state to meet people in person for the first time and talk about my business is scary, so is trying a new marketing tactic or investing in new resources.

2. You must exit one season in order to enter a new season.
If you want your business to be different, you can’t keep doing the same things. Your marketing must also change to reach a new audience, increase sales or expand your business.

3. Give people a place they feel they belong and receive value.
Marketing should not be all about YOU; it should be about THEM. Creating a community, asking people what they need, and then delivering it is the best type of marketing.

4. It’s important to know what you’re good at and what you’re not.
Spinning your wheels trying to figure out the best marketing strategy for your business is like me trying to prepare my corporate tax return. I might be able to figure it out eventually, with a lot of work and failed attempts, but it is the best use of my time to outsource that project to an expert.
